This 2-hour live virtual training will provide participants with contextual and practical foundations for writing letters of support for gender affirming healthcare. Relevant data, legal and ethical standards, and templates will be provided for both the evaluation session and for the letters of support in accordance with APA and WPATH standards.
Participants will learn what these letters are and are not, the what competencies and credentials are required to write these letters, the 5 components of our role as assessor, collateral factors and referrals to consider during the evaluation process, recommended and required paperwork to meet legal standards and reduce administrative burden, an overview of the types of procedures clients may seek, and where to look to follow the ever evolving legal and sociopolitical landscapes regarding gender affirming healthcare.

Providing Letters of Support for Gender Affirming Healthcare, (ACE course number 6364), is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by Valued Directions Psychological Services as an individual course. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 7/2/25-7/2/27. Social workers completing this course receive 2 (two) general continuing education credits.
Providing Letters of Support for Gender Affirming Healthcare has been approved by NBCC for NBCC credit. Valued Directions Psychological Services is solely responsible for all aspects of the program. NBCC Approval No. SP-4966.
To be eligible for CE credits all participants must attend the full duration of the program, complete the program evaluation, and complete the post-test with a score of at least 75% within at least 3 attempts.
Instructor:
Chassitty N. Fiani, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience specializing in affirming clinical work, conducting research, and educating other providers on topics related to multicultural competence in mental health with an emphasis on the provision of gender affirming mental healthcare. They are a queer and transgender/nonbinary provider, integrating research and evidence-based practice with the lens of lived experience to provide high quality trainings with the goal of increasing accessibility of gender affirming care.

Policies & Procedures:
This program will not be recorded, and recording by participants will not be permitted. Powerpoint slides will be provided. AI notetakers will not be permitted. Violation of these policies will result in removal from the call without refund or re-entry.
Registration will close 4 hours prior to program start.
Accommodations must be discussed with the program sponsor at least 1 week (7 calendar days) in advance of the scheduled program. Closed Captioning is available to all participants without advance request and can be self-enabled by participants at any time during the program. Refunds are unavailable within 1 week (7 calendar days) of program inception. Refund requests initiated at least 1 week prior to the program must be submitted in writing to Cfiani@ValuedDirections.org. Transaction fees will be subtracted from the total refund in the amount of 5.0% per refund.
